What’s the Meaning of the Colored Dots on Ping Golf Clubs?
If you are a golf lover and careful observer, you will notice that every Ping golf iron has a small color-coded dot that identifies. According to the Ping Company’s website, Ping’s color coding system makes it easier to find clubs that fit you. Ping uses a color-coding system to represent different lie angles offered with their clubs. These colored dots allow Ping to tailor clubs to individual golfers. Ping uses 12 color-coded dots to represent unique custom-fit specifications. White is a standard size grip. Orange is slightly over sized and aqua marine is slightly under sized. They have colors for 5 degrees up through 5 degrees down. I’m not sure the number color combos but the colors are green, blue, red, black, and silver, burgundy, white, gold, orange and brown. I know white is 3 degree up because that’s what I play. I know black is standard loft, I know red is 1 degree down cause that’s what my uncle plays. Silver is 4 degrees up because that was the first color I tested and it was slightly to upright and blue is 2 degree upright. I believe brown is 5 degrees down the rest I am not sure about. There is no dot on the grips but the stripe on the top of the grip as well as the color of the ping logo tells you the kind of grip. Because I am a golf lover and like to study the similarity and difference of the golf clubs then I take the Ping dots as the experimental. I find that the dots are the different lie angle of the club head it is also on their woods. I play white dots which are 3 degrees upright for a taller player. So, there is another purpose that the Ping color-coded club-fitting process is to monitor your actual performance.
If you have made the decision to choose golf iron sets, you are suggested to make what color is suit to you clearly. If a colored dot that does not match your ideal color, it will increase the likelihood of errant shots. A set of clubs that is too upright is likely to cause a player to come around too much on the ball. When this happens, the player is more likely to pull or hook the ball.
